Q. What are Navpics?

The Navpics patented service offers the auction seller a way to display pictures of their current listings in every one of their listings. In addition, a buyer can go directly from one listing to another of the same seller's listings. Navpics thumbnails increase the seller's visibility on the web. When an auction is viewed, the customer is presented with pictures of the seller's other auctions. By clicking on the thumbnail, the customer visits that auction. Customers view your auctions longer and more often.

The thumbnails are refreshed every day. When listings expire they are dropped from the thumbnails and replaced with pictures from the seller's other listings.

Q. I added the html but I get a small box with a red X in it and no thumbnail pictures. What's wrong?

The service is only available to registered users. To register click here .

When generating your HTML you have to specify your EbayID not user email address. Your email address has the @ character in it. Your EbayID probably does not.

You must copy the HTML exactly as shown. It starts with the "<" character and ends with the ">" character. If either are missing you may get errors.

Q. Do I always add the same HTML to my descriptions or is it different for each description?

You use the same HTML every time.

Q. I added new listings but they don't show up on the thumbnails. Why?

The thumbnails are added once every day. At that time the current listings are evaluated and the 16 listings closest to expiring are used to generate the thumbnails. If a listing expires after the evaluation occurred, it still shows up as a thumbnail until the next day when a new evaluation occurs.

Q. Not all my current auctions show up as thumbnails. Why not?

The 16 listings closest to expiring are used. If a seller has more than 16 current listings only the 16 closest to expiring will be shown. As auctions expire, the expired thumbnails are replaced with current auctions.

Q. The picture of the item I'm selling appears after the Navpics thumbnails. Can I change this?

You can place the Navpics HTML anywhere in the auction description. If you place it at the beginning, it shows up first then your text shows and then the item picture. There are free template generators available such as Ebay's Turbo Lister that give you many options on arranging the look of your auctions.

You can always revise your auctions and add or delete the thumbnails from your desciption, if you want to try different looks.

Q. Any tips or tricks?

Keep your descriptions and terms short to ensure that your pictures and thumbnails are seen instead of lots of text. Remember the saying, " A picture is worth a thousand words".
